TWA Flight 800 Memorial Alternative Portfolio 15

Located at Smith Point County Park, Long Island NY, is the TWA Flight 800 Memorial. The memorial site, which is nestled in the dunes, faces the vast Atlantic ocean close to where the flight went down. The gardens, sculptures and structures are very fitting for this place and pay respect to the memory of those that lost so much on the 17th of July, 1996.  I hope I captured, through these images, the essence of the architecture and design dedicated to those who lost and were lost in this tragic event.

If you look closely at the images below (this is how they came out of the camera) there seems to be a reflection of the 911 tragedy- at least this is what caught my attention -eerily, these were taken in sequence as well....

The source for the above pictures was found on this monument which was reflecting the wall with all the victims names on it.

The memorial wall with all the victims names in front of the above wave monument.

2014 anniversary commemoration I attended...

The photos below were taken on the first day of winter 2015. The day was mild but stormy with light drizzle...Along with the architecture of the memorial I wanted to capture the ocean setting for those who cannot visit.

I found this bench facing where the plane would have been.
It's empty but I imagine someone in it.
